Orange & Chocolate… Yum!

April 12, 2012

First and foremost, I love the modern edge the paint detail in this dining room gives the traditional architecture.  Secondly, the floating sideboard… what?!?!  J’adore.  But what I really want to talk about the color combination here, orange and chocolate.  Right now we are seeing mostly white and light neutrals being shown with the trending accent colors: orange, turquoise, raspberry… partially because of the time of year and largely because they look great together.  But with orange still gaining in popularity It’s really great to see it paired with an earthy, deep color – like chocolate.  It takes orange go from whimsical and casual to rich and sophistocated, but still warm weather apporpriate.

This lounge area is a winner!  The combination of the carved coffee table, patterned rug and leopard pillows gives this space an African vibe and the art and wing chairs cut the kitsch with a modern push.  The cobalt lamps are the perfect break in color palette.  The image below is a room i did a few years ago.  It’s been featured on BILLblog before, but it is an oldie but a goodie and look, orange and chocolate!  Who knew? …I guess I did.  I loved the way this room turned out, I got my dash of blue in the painting over the fireplace.
