I love this shot, what a comfortable room.  The warm gold frames and rich orange accents are the prefect pop in the soft tonal color palette.  Orange is really trending in interiors right now and you know I’m a fan of light neutral upholstery and natural rugs like the jute rug in the image.  What also strikes me is the earth colored accessories, they really set a mood.  One that isn’t too sweet, or too decorated, just beautiful objects mellow in their color and they really harmonize with the vibe of the space.

While these two rooms have completely different aesthetics, both succeed in being tonal and monochromatic in their color stories.  This beach house image shows no real accent or pop color but that allows the eye to see the view and not be drawn into the room as much, with a view like that why would you want to be drawn to the pillows? There is a harmony and peacefulness to rooms that use one color in many shades, bravo!

Taken to its extreme, this is colorless… not just one color but all color removed.  I personally LOVE this look.  I think it takes major restraint to live in an environment that is so pure.  I will admit that while I love this look I currently do not live in a house that is all white, even my beige rooms have been infiltrated by color, books, art, objects… perhaps a weekend house or second home would be the ideal place to experiment with a colorless space.
