One More Bathroom
February 7, 2012
You know I love grasscloth, and a powder room is the perfect spot for the richly textured wall covering because it is not distrubed by the humidity of a full bath. Of course it looks good in hallways, stairwells, living rooms and bedrooms too. Wet rooms and kitchens are really the only places I can think of where you may not want to use grass cloth – playrooms would do better with a different choice as it is sensitive to abrasion. The chair rail in this shot is also a good idea if you’re going to use grasscloth for bathrooms, as grasscloth is not a cleanable surface… lets leave it at that. Speaking of chair rails, wainscotting and the like, how amazing is this chevron patterned bead board? The simple twist to this classic makes it so sophisticated and takes it from cottage cute to classicly chic. I personally would have preferred the towel hook to the left of the sink mounted on the wood, rather than on the grasscloth but hey, they didn’t ask me. And the prints are nice but a small seagrass or sisal rug would pull the neutral of the matting down to the floor and really finish the room off nicely (with a navy blue boarder? Yes please).
