Summertime Fireplace

September 11, 2011

We are coming up on fires in the fireplace season, soon a warm glow will fill the empty fireboxes of homes coast to coast. In the off-season months some people set a fire up and leave it at the ready for a cool crisp night to come…  a fire to cozy up the room and cut the chilly air.  Others search out the perfect birch branches as filler and stage their hearths “just so” and others use candles in their firebox during the season less familiar to fires.  I happen to love the idea of a clean fireplace being filled with books in the off-season.  I don’t really like the open blackness of an unused fireplace, nor do i like looking at a premade fire when it’s 90 degrees out.  Books offer  so much in the way of stories, people, places, and history.  They are nice to have around, like friends… so why not fill every nook and cranny with interesting people, places… including the fireplace?
