I’m (done) Working On It

May 9, 2011

Remember that little summer-house I blogged about back on October 8th?  Well… were done and the clients are in and loving their little house.  The stair runner was the last thing to go in and it really adds a finished look to the front stairs.  The clients really like the bold colors of the Gabeh rugs we used throughout the house so I set out to find something that complimented the those without overwhelming the tiny staircase that already had the detail of the black painted treads.  We considered rugs from Elizabeth Eakins, Dash and Albert, Merdia, Barrier Island and Woodard and Greenstein and ended up with this cotton flat weave from Woodard.  My installer turns the edges under for a more durable installation and adds a think pad between the tucked edges to give body to the material and soften the feel without getting too bulky.  I love the colors that create a strie effect in the rug, marrying the colors found throughout the house and in the rugs ( see entry way rug ). The rug is informal – just like the rugs – introduces color and visual interest but it allows the staircase to feel open and generous… well as big as this tiny staircase could feel anyway.
