Sometimes I feel like a little Chinese

April 3, 2011

A dash of the exotic suits any interior.  From as far back as Victorian times (and perhaps before that) the lure of far away lands and the treasures they offer have intrigued us.  As imports became available to the masses around the turn of the century, and not just the very rich who were able to travel to other continents, bamboo, lacquered wood furniture and ceramic pieces found their way into American homes.  Today China in particular produces a massive amount of exports to the US mostly day-to-day items but antique and antique reproduction furniture still enter our country and we still love it 100 years later.  I personally love a piece or two mixed in with both modern and traditional interiors.
