Seven Days Of Lights – Day Four

November 21, 2010

This is the 40 something version of the 30 something version I posted awhile back ( Nov 10th ).  It’s updated and fresh but still traditional for the most part, the finish is what makes it more updated.   This light gives a fantastic glow in a diningroom or foyer, the parchment lampshades keep the fixture feeling easy and not too dressy – the finish is pretty glam.  There are both oval and round versions of this light available from Visual Comfort and other finishes too, but I love this polished nickel, and round feels more modern that square… love it!  House a bit more traditional? …go for the antiqued brass fixture.  House rustic with hints of european influences?  …go oil rubbed bronze.  I’m telling you there is something for everyone.  Beach house you say? …well the polished nickel would work, or you could paint it white.  ok, ok… I’ll stop now.

What’s the point? …finish plays a LARGE part to how things look obviously, but also how they FEEL.  Think about the mood your trying to create in a room when choosing finish.
