Summer Style Dinner Party

July 23, 2010

I really liked the way this table turned out for a recent dinner party, so simple but pretty.  One bunch of grocery store roses and some boxwood from the yard was all I needed to make the sweet centerpieces.  A table-cloth usually feels a bit fancier than chargers or placemats, but I think this creamy white hotel style one felt crisp and fresh on a hot night.  Not sure if you can make out the small votives, they are polished aluminum pebbles with tealights, intentionally low and simple like the flowers.  I guess I approached this evening more like “supper” than dinner, ironstone platters were passed to help promote the casualness of the evening and the wine flowed into the night… a good time had by all.

I am pulling together the flowers for a wedding tomorrow so I have to keep todays post brief.  But I’m hoping to come back later today to post a pre-blog on the flowers once i get them all home today, so come back later today and check out a sneek-peek for tomorrows blog on DIY wedding flowers.
