White Kitchens

July 8, 2010

A white on white kitchen can sometimes benefit from a strong counterpoint like this dramatic black island.  The depth of color on the island pulls the light fixtures, hardware and even the grout out, making them more obvious.   I’m not sure I’m loving the wood floor color but based on the window trim it is consistent with the house.

I guess a room with a cook-top and a sink is a kitchen, but this space looks more like a garage with an island in it than a kitchen.  I actually love the aesthetic of the beautiful concrete floors, and the modern cabinetry really works for me… but there is definitely no “working triangle” I suspect this kitchen is long on pretty and short on practicality.  Who needs a refrigerator?

Might the fridge(s) be low, under the counter ones on the other side of the island? Saw that in a spread on Andie MacDowell’s kitchen a long time back.

yes most likely there are refrigerator drawers. but seriously, where would you put a turkey or caterer’s tray?
