Jaguar E Type

October 25, 2009

30A_a_sThe sleek and beautiful Jaguar E-Type was officially introduced to the world in March 1961 in Geneva, Switzerland. It was immediately well liked and is now a classic.  The styling and sensuous shape still gets rave reviews. The list of mechanical features was, for 1961, stunning: a double overhead cam engine, fully independent rear suspension and four wheel disc brakes (inboard at the rear no less, an exotic touch usually found only on race cars) proved the E-Type to be an advanced automobile. The price was $5,595 or £1,830 for the roadster at that time.  The low price-tag made the E-Type an exceptional bargain; the comparitively crude Corvette cost less but offerings from Aston Martin and Ferrari were considerably more. And, It’s pretty.  I might choose White, Brown or Black but this red one sure catches the eye.  The light soft top give it the “throw-back” look 60’s vintage.  From every angle this car delivers style.
